Kitchen Assistant/ Cook
Description
As a kitchen assistant/cook, you will be an integral member of our kitchen staff, involved in preparing high-quality dishes in a fast-paced environment. You should have a passion for food and a strong desire to provide an excellent culinary experience to our guests.
Responsibilities
- Strong familiarity in the preparation of Sierra Leone dishes. Other African and international menu experience will be an added advantage.
- Prepare and cook meals according to the company's standard recipes.
- Ensure that all dishes are cooked well and presented in an aesthetically pleasing way.
- Work efficiently to keep up with orders, often under high pressure.
- Maintain cleanliness and adhere to food hygiene regulations at all times.
- Assist in checking the quality and freshness of ingredients and food supplies received from suppliers or purchased from the market.
- Collaborate and work with other kitchen staff, the assistant head chef and the head chef to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Manage, maintain and use kitchen equipment responsibly.
- Contribute to new menu ideas and seasonal changes.
- Participate and adhere in stock management and cost control procedures.
Qualifications
- Formal culinary training from a recognized institution.
- Experience as a cook/chef in a restaurant setting.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently without compromising quality.
- Knowledge of various cooking techniques and practices.
- Familiarity with sanitation regulations.
- Excellent time management skills.
- A team player with good communication skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and evenings as required.
